Edward Cuming Trusted His Gut Feeling for SS24 Collection

A grungy take on Y2K’s effortlessness.

Australian-born, Madrid-based designer Edward Cuming embraces risk-taking in his Spring/Summer 2024 collection, celebrating intuitive decision-making and a fearless approach to design. Captured by Cristina Stohle in an empty home, the collection mirrors the creative journey of a young couple transforming their new space, transitioning from punk-inspired aesthetics to sophisticated allure.

The lineup features a fusion of materials, including rigid canvas men’s tailoring, a hybrid bomber and M65 jacket with oversized sleeves, sequined bras and lightweight knit dresses. Edgy screen-printed, dyed and distressed jerseys add flair, while the hybrid Belmonte cross-body leather bag becomes a statement piece.

Cuming’s bold use of vibrant colors, floral prints, stripes and textures is accentuated by girly brooches, heavily embellished belts and knitted or printed ruffles. The fabrics, a blend of Japanese cotton, chiffons, satins, Italian wools, linens, floral georgettes, air flow tussle satins and Spanish Ubrique leathers, offer versatility. Continuing their collaboration, Cuming and Adam Signature present handmade shoes, embracing imperfections and uniqueness.
