Willow Smith on "Finding Beauty in What's Different" for Moncler
We speak to the multi-hyphenate about her official collection, first debuted at Moncler’s “The City of Genius” in Shanghai.
First unveiled at The City of Genius in Shanghai, Willow Smith‘s debut ready-to-wear collection with Moncler has finally landed. A tribute to juxtaposition and contrast, the collection aims to emulate a futuristic yet functional wardrobe driven by the multihyphenate’s personal style and future-facing vision.
“Minimalism and utilitarianism. Femininity and masculinity. Black and white. Bringing juxtaposing ideas together in an elegant way is something that excites me, and I wanted to explore that in this collection,” Smith says in a press release.
The collection includes standout pieces like a down jacket dress, resembling a sleeping bag in tribute to Moncler’s “duvet” coats, which are finished by a detachable hem and oversized pockets. Workwear-inspired canvas trousers also feature a detachable bottom half, paired with classic silhouettes like heavy sweatshirts, cocooning knits and body-skimming base layers, all arriving in a minimal color palette of black and “Moon-dust White.”
Following the collection’s release, we caught up with Willow to learn more about her creative process and relationship with Moncler.

How would you describe your style? And how did that inform your designs for Moncler?
I would describe my style as modern minimalistic with an artistic edge, often wearing natural colors or earth tones and embracing unique shapes. I knew I wanted this collection to follow in similar ways, embracing both form and function while staying true to my roots in comfort and self-expression.
You describe your collection as “bringing juxtaposing ideas together in an elegant way” — why is that exciting to you?
It’s exciting because it creates a sense of balance in seemingly opposite forces. It’s about creating harmony where there seems to be contrast, whether it’s mixing textures, shapes, or colors. It’s elevating simplicity with complexity or vice versa. Ultimately, I think it speaks to a larger philosophy of finding beauty in what’s different.
Where did the idea for the presentation, and the post-apocalyptic garden specifically, come from?
It really does come back to the concept of juxtaposing ideas. I wanted people to experience the combination of two things that wouldn’t typically go together, like destruction and growth, and see that things in contrast can also bring cohesion and harmony.
If you had to pick one piece from the collection to save from the apocalypse, which would it be and why?
100% the sleeping bag, it’s just way too functional to leave behind.
What appealed to you about working with Moncler on this?
Moncler is such an innovative brand, with the unique ability to blend luxury and performance wear in a way that feels elevated. They are creating things that look beautiful and work in real life, it’s exactly the kind of balance I love to explore.
