ROTATE Closes CPHFW With Elizabeth Taylor-Inspired Bridal

ROTATE closed this Fall/Winter 2024 season at Copenhagen Fashion Week and as always, it was a show to remember. Dedicated to showcasing Scandinavian glamor and opulence, the collection offered a fusion of contemporary edge and retro luxury. Taking to Denmark’s iconic Design Museum, creative directors Thora Valdimars and Jeanette Madsen flicked through old magazines and books to discern which silhouettes would be making a return, before modernizing them with ROTATE’s signature party-girl flair.

“We found a lot of inspiration in the draping,” they told us, adding that “it was very important for us to have the twist of the more casual, edgy girl that is associated with ROTATE with a nod to the fifties. It’s all about bringing out the individual personalities within the styling.”

WHO: ROTATE friends, fans and creators made up the front row and beyond at the brand’s seasonal showcase.

WHERE: Held at events venue Pakhus11, the glamorous runway show took place against illuminating chandeliers and a red carpet, which later transformed into a fully-fledged bar and afterparty.

SEE: Alongside classic ROTATE silhouettes in new colorways, FW24 debuted eight new wedding styles inspired by fashion icon Elizabeth Taylor, with the number a nod to her eight marriages. Revisiting signature styles, the bridal collection offered a unique display of contemporary bridalwear, matching lace tights with minidresses and tulle veils. Elsewhere, the collection took influence from the ’50s, offering a range of sultry, draped dresses and matching accessories in a romantic range of black, pink, white and red.

TOUCH: Tactility certainly took center stage this season, showcased through contrasting textures like wool coats worn with delicate embroidery, fuzzy jumpers with sequinned skirts and faux fur coats with metallic finishes.

TASTE: Fusing old school glamor with a contemporary edge, the collection offered a masterclass in clashing textures and styles, something we imagine we’ll continue to see across FW24 showcases. According to the creative directors, “While the unmistakable party vibe and extravagant dresses persist, we’ve delved deeper into the art of styling this time around,” which signals a shift towards the concept of, it’s not what you wear, but how you wear it.
