MCM and Harper Collective Drop Eco-Friendly Luggage Line Made from Sea Plastic
Accompanied by a CGI campaign conceived by Jaden Smith.
Have you ever wondered what the future of travel might look like? Harper Collective, founded by actor, musician and activist Jaden Smith and entrepreneur Sebastian Manes, has partnered with the German fashion house, MCM, to combat plastic waste while promoting stylish and sustainable travel.
Harper Collective upholds their commitment to sustainability with their latest collaboration, featuring hard-shell rolling travel cases. This luggage collection includes three unique silhouettes, “Cabin,” “Cabin Expandable” and a large check-in case. Each wheeled suitcase is made from an innovative material composed of 70% recycled ocean plastic, including fishing nets and post-consumer plastic.
MCM’s iconic cognac Visetos wraps the new lightweight aluminum handles, while the interior features MCM’s signature recycled, quilted nylon and upcycled webbing straps from three different decades. The luggage tags are crafted from reused Maxi Visetos material and each piece includes a blockchain-linked NFC chip provided by Temera, an Italian IoT solutions company, that also serializes and authenticates each item.
The collaborative project was sparked by Harper Collective’s launch at Selfridges last summer, inspiring MCM to create a personalized luggage set that combines fashionable and sustainable travel which was successfully unveiled at Milan Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2024.

The collection is promoted by a CGI campaign, beautifully conceived by Jaden Smith himself and featuring artwork by the graffiti Japanese artist Inagaki which references the 2024 MCM campaign “From Munich to Mars.”
The eco-conscious capsule is now available on the MCM website, the Harper Collective website and the MCM shop in Selfridges London.
