HER dating app releases its “Sapphic Renaissance” study.
HER dating app releases the findings of its “Sapphic Renaissance” survey.
With Chappell Roan and Billie Eilish dominating music charts, all the girls are talking about is whether we’re in a lesbian renaissance. At the same time, HER “saw a significant spike in user growth and wanted to learn more about these new users,” it shared.
According to HER, “More than half of Gen Z and Millennial daters are ditching mainstream dating apps, with over 75% preferring community and identity-driven apps like HER due to its vibrant sapphic community and lack of cis men.” Yes, you read that correctly.
Women who’ve used dating apps in the past five years won’t find this news to be a surprise. However, it’s been predicted that the dating app hype is indeed over, with women of all expressions feeling “exhausted” by the phenomenon.
Why lesbians aren’t ditching dating apps
The survey also revealed top motivators for daters on HER were a preference for dating women, a safe space feel and “a lack of cis men.” More specifically, ”The lack of cis men on the app ranked third among motivators for all age groups. Coincidentally, cis men were the number one reason all surveyed sapphics were leaving mainstream dating apps, with a lack of genuine connections ranking as the second highest reason for departing.”
