Merit Launches "The Great Skin Moisturizer" Created from Food Waste
The second in the brand’s skincare lineup.
With celebrities like Sarah Jessica Parker, Cameron Diaz, Emma Stone, Greta Lee, Jodie Turner Smith and Hillary Duff singing Merit‘s praises, it’s no wonder there are over 5,000 fans signed up on the waitlist for the brand’s latest product. On August 22, Merit will launch the “Great Skin Moisturizer,” a clinically-proven skincare formula created with a proprietary, first-to-market complex that addresses plenty of skin concerns.
A follow-up to its Great Skin Instant Glow Serum (sold every two minutes since they’ve launched), this moisturizer is made from a blend of peptides, spermidine and polysaccharide that work to brighten, tone and deeply hydrate the skin, creating the perfect canvas for Merit’s best-selling makeup products.
Its star ingredient, the Great Skin Complex, is the latest in the brand’s innovation, developed “for its immediate and long term hydration and barrier benefits,” stated by the brand in a press release. Where does it come from you ask? Food waste, sourced from a “byproduct of arctic microalgae that is sustainably grown in Icelandic reactors for the food industry,” says Merit.
“One of the key foundations of any healthy, glowing base is hydration. Dehydrated skin is a gateway to fine line and wrinkles, as well as skin irritation and an uneven complexion. It is crucial to lock the skin moisture for as long as possible to prevent TEWL (transepidermal water loss) that can lead to skin disorders. Merit’s newest skincare product, ‘Great Skin Moisturizer,’ is uniquely well suited to provide both immediate and long term moisture to the skin. In addition to tried-and-tested favorites like hyaluronic acid and oat extract, its innovative new Great Skin Complex was specially developed for time-release hydration. These properties also make it a great primer for makeup, which tends to cling to dryness,” says brand representative and celebrity esthetician Biba de Sousa in a press release.
Merit’s “Great Skin Moisturizer” retails for $38 USD and will be available on the brand’s website starting August 22.
