Everything We Know About Charli XCX's New Album, 'Wuthering Heights'
There are no sunglasses or cigarettes in sight for this one, and fans have a lot to say.
Following on from the global success of BRAT, Charli XCX just announced her highly anticipated next album, Wuthering Heights, an original soundtrack to Emerald Fennell’s upcoming film adaptation of Charlotte Brönte’s novel of the same name, and it’s coming out on February 13, 2026.
The singer just released the second single from the album, “Chains of Love,” which follows the record’s debut single, “House,” released last week and featuring The Velvet Underground’s John Cale. The full tracklist is still under wraps, but the singer recently launched her own Substack account, where she wrote a post expanding on the creative process behind Wuthering Heights. For a little extra insight, the musician shared that Fennell initially asked her to write just one song for the film, before Charli suggested a larger project. “I wanted to dive into persona, into a world that felt undeniably raw, wild, sexual, gothic, British, tortured and full of actual real sentences, punctuation and grammar. Without a cigarette or a pair of sunglasses in sight, it was all totally other from the life I was currently living.” Is this Charli like never before?

Fans have, of course, been quick to chime in and share their own thoughts on the project. From pure joy to confusion, here are some of the best reactions. The overriding sentiment is that people love an unexpected artistic twist.
I love how you refuse to be a hostage of your audience. That’s how music legends are born.
