Labubu Resellers Are Dividing the Internet...

Is this the end of an era?

Resellers have complicated every style of shopping from footwear to Trader Joe’s Easter tote bags. The trend has snowballed out of control, with Labubus next up.

If you haven’t seen the viral item, you’re either in your underconsumption era or not chronically online because Labubus are everywhere. It’s existed for years, but K-Pop icon LISA fueled its viral status. Plush lovers can not only buy one solo, but they can also purchase one in a blind box, which has only grown in interest as it delivers that nostalgic factor.

Earlier this year, POP MART, the owner and exclusive retailer of Labubu, pulled the mighty monsters from its shelf after interest grew to be concerning. The decision was made over safety concerns as shoppers were ready to risk it all for a furry friend. The decision only further increased the rarity of the item, leaving only U.S.-based POP MART‘s as trusted retailers.

As a result, resellers have begun mass buying the viral toy and now, copping a Labubu at resale value can cost over $60 USD. One fan of the viral plush published a story with the headline, “Labubu’s Viral Rise Is Getting the Fun Sucked Out by Resellers.” The item has since become a luxury accessory of sorts, starting from humble beginnings in the store’s vending machines to now, earning a high resale value.
