Why Does the Internet Have So Much to Say About This 'Love Island USA' Cast Member?
Vanna Einerson’s looks alone are enough to spark an immense amount of online discourse.
Love Island USA is more than just a TV show. After having its biggest season ever last year, the expectations for the 2025 season were set unattainably high. As Love Island USA‘s producers scramble to reinvent the format in order to artificially create drama, the season seven cast struggles to receive the same amount of praise as their predecessors — let alone any praise at all.
Although most members of the 2025 cast have been subjected to internet criticism, Vanna Einerson in particular has become a hot topic of debate among the Love Island fanbase. After her initial debut as a Casa Amor girl, TikTokers ran to the platform to express disbelief of her being “only 21 years old.” Fans were quick to pick apart her appearance, posting screenshots of her with captions like, “Leave your face alone!” Subsequently, a dogpile ensued.
@comarayruz I do not want to bully this poor girl at all. She is not ugly. But those fillers are aging her SO MUCH. she is 21?? #loveislandusa #vanna #fillers ♬ sad SpongeBob music – michael
While a majority of Love Island USA fans were first introduced to the show last season, cyberbullying is far from a new issue in the fandom. Compared to other reality dating shows, Love Island viewers have earned a reputation for being exceptionally harsh to the show’s contestants and hosts — ever since the original British Love Island series premiered in 2015.
However, the internet’s obsession with Einerson is especially interesting, considering how her appearance on the show has resulted in a varied discourse — ranging from harassment to sentiments of pity and patronization. “I feel so bad for her,” commenters on TikTok write. While there’s no shortage of scrutiny, some viewers have attempted to pivot the conversation — citing that young women like Einerson often feel pressured to change their appearance in order to meet impossible beauty standards.
Today, facial tweaks like botox and filler are far from uncommon, but the stigma around them is constantly evolving. While celebrities like Kylie Jenner are applauded for disclosing their breast augmentations, Vanna Einerson recieves the exact opposite response. However, unrelenting viewers show no signs of remorse — even after a message was posted to Love Island USA‘s Instagram, urging its community to “remember they’re real people.”
