SHUSHU/TONG Brought Back '60s Style For SS27
Complete with mini skirts, headbands and bright color blocking.
SHUSHU/TONG is embracing the complicated side of romance for Spring/Summer 2027, with a collection that explores the space between happiness and heartbreak. Presented at Shanghai Fashion Week and titled “Darling Melancholy,” the lineup took inspiration from Jacques Demy’s 1964 film The Umbrellas of Cherbourg, using its dreamy, saturated palette and ’60s style moments.
Think vibrant pinks, blues, yellows and reds, clashing in a playful mix of satin, polka dots and retro-inspired prints. The collection draws on the visual language of the 1960s, with petal-edged details, floral beading and graphic motifs adding a vintage touch. Meanwhile, lace, jacquard and colored satin bring texture to the label’s signature feminine silhouettes.
There’s also a sportier side to the collection. Semi-transparent fabrics, raglan sleeves, color-blocking and cropped flared trousers introduce a relaxed energy, while voluminous, flower-shaped balloon skirts play with proportion. Elsewhere, accessories arrive courtesy of a collaboration with YVMIN, translating the collection’s bold story into jewelry. Toy-like spheres, geometric shapes and sparkling zirconia rework playful motifs, including bows, with a distinctly Pop Art-inspired twist.
Ultimately, the collection celebrates the contradictions that make life meaningful. For SHUSHU/TONG, sweetness and sadness aren’t opposites; they’re two sides of the same experience. Check out some of the looks above and head to the brand’s website for more.
