Simone Rocha SS27 Brought Romance Back Down to Earth
In a collection about the intimacy of everyday dressing.
Simone Rocha is thinking about the little things for Spring/Summer 2027. Rather than building the collection around a single narrative, the designer looked to warmth, human gesture and the quiet ways we show affection, translating intimacy into clothes that hug, hold and move with the body.
That idea came through in pieces that looked as though the body itself shaped them. Lingerie-inspired slips, déshabillé layers and twisted knits sat close to the skin, while beading appeared deliberately undone, falling away like something worn and loved for years. Wisteria was an unexpected accessory, wrapped around the ears or transformed into harnesses that pulled dresses even closer to the body.
The collection was tactile in every sense. Velvet, embroidered tulle, satin and taffeta came in a romantic palette of red, blue, pink and black, while shells replaced pearls and organza feathers trailed from dancing hems.
Rocha also gave everyday pieces the full drama treatment. Workwear-inspired gabardine jackets ballooned into oversized shapes, covered in hand-applied petals and beading, while sculptural hoods framed the face like Renaissance portraits.
Rather than leaning into romance for romance’s sake, Rocha makes intimacy feel physical, something you can see in the way clothes wrap, gather and sit against the body. SS27 was a collection about getting dressed with feeling, without being too precious.
