David Koma Reframes "Glamor as Power" for Blumarine FW26
Taking inspiration from Commedia dell’Arte and the city of Venice.
David Koma presented the Fall/Winter 2026 collection for Blumarine during Milan Fashion Week, evolving the brand’s Venetian influence and the growing duality of woman. Toeing the line between strictness and softness and fragility and ferociousness, the FW26 woman is the ultimate diva.
Inspired by the house’s own legacy and, in particular, its collaborations with Helmut Newton, Blumarine’s collection continues to err on the side of theatre and drama, showcasing ballooning silhouettes and tactile fabrics through the lens of opulence. Flashy fur coats, dramatic cuts and lace dresses are paired with delicate blouses, gold foil detailing and rose petal ruffles.
Silver embroideries, pastel tones and stark black and white contrasts underpin the collection, accentuated by hints of gold and rose gold, bright crimson and bronze. Entirely decadent, the collection was as Koma as it gets, taking the designer’s signature maximalism and refining it.
Adding to this season’s inspiration was the style of theatre, Commedia dell’Arte, popularized in the 16th century. Leaning into one of its core characters, the inspiration manifested as Harlequin diamond patterns reimagined in goat hair. Elsewhere, Venetian lion’s head door knockers inspired metal embellishments, evolving the brand’s baroque theme.
