Meet Maem Disko, Your New Favorite Niche Brand
Starting with its viral silk capris.
If you haven’t heard of Maem Disko yet, now’s the time to get acquainted. Founded by Margot Castor in Sydney in 2021, the womenswear label has quietly cultivated a cult following with its vintage-inspired silhouettes, feminine details and thoughtful approach to everyday dressing.
Rather than chasing trends, Maem Disko focuses on timeless pieces crafted from natural fibers like silk, organic cotton and bamboo. The brand’s signature silk capris, a modern reinterpretation of antique bloomers, have become its defining piece, regularly popping up across our social feeds. Available in a pearl finish or classic black with delicate lace trim, they’re the kind of wardrobe staple that feels equal parts nostalgic and fresh.
The rest of the collection follows suit. Think fuzzy mohair knits in pastel pink and powder blue, lace-trimmed scuba tops, silk midi skirts and, for the upcoming drop, a dramatic floor-length halter dress in black and icy aquamarine for that old Hollywood glamor.
Now, Maem Disko is taking its first step beyond Australia. The label recently hosted its debut international pop-up in East London‘s Shoreditch, giving fans the chance to shop bestselling pieces, preview unreleased styles and meet Castor herself to learn more about the brand’s design process.
For Maem Disko, London feels like a natural fit. With its thriving independent fashion scene and creative community, the city marks the beginning of the label’s international journey, and if this debut is anything to go by, it won’t be its last.
