Here's What Went Down at Our "Diarra From Detroit" Murder Mystery Party

We celebrated the second season of the hit television series in style, bringing Detroit energy to NYC.

To celebrate the second season of Paramount+’s critically acclaimed mystery-comedy Diarra From Detroit, Hypebae teamed up with the streaming platform to host an exclusive, social-first cocktail experience in Soho, New York. Bringing together cast members, creators, tastemakers and New York’s creative community, the intimate gathering bridged the worlds of entertainment, fashion and culture.

Tucked away on the third floor of Soho’s vintage-inspired landmark Pearl Box, guests ascended into The Attic — a venue chosen for its moody, speakeasy atmosphere with rich wood paneling, low lighting and plush lounge accents.

The venue’s decor paid direct homage to the series’ sleek yet dramatic aesthetic. A main photo moment featured floor-length red theatrical curtains with the Diarra From Detroit logo projected directly onto the drapery, framed by gorgeous floral arrangements for the perfect shot.

Upon arrival, attendees were handed clue cards, immersing them in a custom four-step interactive murder mystery game designed around the show’s themes. Guests who successfully cracked the case were entered into a raffle for a grand prize drawing held at the end of the night.

Setting the tone for the night was multi-hyphenate animator, photographer and DJ Ant Blue Jr. Known for his eclectic sets, he infused heavy Detroit influences into his playlist to keep the energy high all night long.

The guest list featured key cultural voices and, of course, the cast of the hit show, including beauty expert Blake Newby, cast members Diarra Kilpatrick and Bryan Terrell Clark, Maleah Joi Moon and creative strategist and stylist Kalysse Anthony.

Catch Season 2 of Diarra From Detroit, now streaming exclusively on Paramount+.
