Vans Doubles up the Checkerboard on These Old Skool Sneakers
A reimagined classic.
Vans‘ classic Old Skool silhouette has seen many iterations over the years. Most recently, it’s been updated in floral velvet and metallic satin. Now, the California skate brand is taking the shoe back to basics with its iconic checkerboard pattern, but there’s an offbeat twist.
The monochromatic canvas and suede upper has colorblocked accents in black on the heel, toe and tongue, which is contrasted by the bold checkered panel on the lateral sides. Mixing things up is a smaller checkerboard motif that sits above the white Sidestripe. Rounding things off is vulcanized midsole in white and that trademark gum waffle outsole.
