Celebrities Respond to Kanye West's Controversial 'SNL' Rant
“You need an intervention.”
As we’re sure you haven’t missed, Kanye West guested SNL this weekend and brought a bizarre performance of his latest single “I Love It” with Lil Pump. Despite dressing up as sparkling water, the talk after the program didn’t surround the musical performance, but Kanye’s pro-Trump rant after it. During the credits of Saturday Night Live, the rapper took it upon him to speak about his decision to wear a “Make America Great Again” cap, and claimed that he got “bullied backstage” and was told not to wear the controversial accessory. Kanye later went on to clarify his uncalled for rant on Twitter, where he wrote: “this represents good and America becoming whole again. We will no longer outsource to other countries. We build factories here in America and create jobs. We will provide jobs for all who are free from prisons as we abolish the 13th amendment. Message sent with love.”
The performance has already caused a lot of controversy across the Internet, and celebrities are now responding to the situation. Lana Del Rey, who previously sang at the rapper’s wedding to Kim Kardashian, tweeted a long response saying, ”I can only assume you relate to his personality on some level. Delusions of Grandeur, extreme issues with narcissism—none of which would be a talking point if we weren’t speaking about the man leading our country. If you think it’s alright to support someone who believes it’s OK to grab a woman by the pussy just because he’s famous—then you need an intervention as much as he does—something so many narcissists will never get because there just isn’t enough help for the issue. Message sent with concern that will never be addressed.” Actor Chris Evans also responded, revealing his disappointment. “There’s nothing more maddening than debating someone who doesn’t know history, doesn’t read books, and frames their myopia as virtue. The level of unapologetic conjecture I’ve encountered lately isn’t just frustrating, it’s retrogressive, unprecedented and absolutely terrifying.”
Kanye has yet not responded to the criticism, but make sure to stay tuned as any more information arises. Meanwhile, take a look at the tweets in question below and let us know your thoughts in the comments.
