Kim Kardashian Is Being Called out for the Name of Her Rumored Lingerie Line

An effort to one-up Rihanna may result in a serious misstep.

Days before the official release of Rihanna‘s Savage X Fenty launch, TMZ has reported that Kim Kardashian has filed documents trademarking her own lingerie line. The company behind Khloe Kardashian‘s Good American label, Frame, petitioned to obtain rights to the name “Kimono Intimates.” The line will allegedly include bustiers, night gowns, breast shapers, pasties and other underwear items.

A kimono is a traditional Japanese robe that usually includes bright patterning and wide-arm sleeves. Fans are disappointed with West’s choice when so many other names could have been used. Given the recent controversy over an American teenager who chose to wear a Chinese dress to prom, this news couldn’t have worst timing. The Utah native was accused of cultural appropriation for wearing a qipao without any knowledge of its heritage or cultural importance. The Kardashians have been under fire several times for similar reasons including Kim’s “Bo Derek braids” comment and her sisters’ decision to screen print their faces over late hip-hop legends.

What are your thoughts on Kim’s new venture? Comment below.
