It's Not a YEEZY, but the adidas Yung 1 Should Be Your New Favorite Sneaker
Arriving in a “Collegiate Navy/Red/White” colorway.
When the adidas Yung 1 first debuted earlier this year in January, sneakerheads flocked to the shoe for its striking similarity to Kanye West‘s covetable YEEZY BOOST 700 (colloquially known as the Wave Runner). With its chunky silhouette and retro-inspired design, the new model quickly became a crowd favorite amongst sneaker fans. Although the shoe was first teased in a minimalistic all-white colorway, the shoe’s first official release now arrives in a tri-colored palette comprised of “Collegiate Navy/Red/White.”
Capturing the spirit of sportswear in the early aughts, the Yung 1 features a melange of OG fabrications. Using classic mesh construction for the upper, nubuck overlays create a multi-layered finish underscored by an abundance of embroidered elements. As an additional complement, a classic EVA midsole utilizes a beloved “dad shoe” patterning that brings to mind classic designs from the ’90s. Rounding off the look is Trefoil branding on the tongue tag, as well as timeless flat laces.
The Yung 1 is slated to drop on June 21 at adidas in-store and online, as well as at select stockists. The shoe will retail at $130 USD.
