Ariana Grande Breaks Her Silence on Mac Miller's Death
“You were my dearest friend.”
A week after Mac Miller was found dead of an apparent drug overdose, Ariana Grande took to her Instagram account to share a heartbreaking tribute to the late rapper. Grande, who’s a former girlfriend of Miller, posted a short video from their two-year relationship, which is captioned with an emotional message:
“I adored you from the day I met you when I was nineteen and I always will. I can’t believe you aren’t here anymore. I really can’t wrap my head around it. We talked about this. So many times. I’m so mad, I’m so sad I don’t know what to do. You were my dearest friend. For so long. Above anything else. I’m so sorry I couldn’t fix or take your pain away. I really wanted to. The kindest, sweetest soul with demons he never deserved. I hope you’re okay now. Rest.”
The two not only once shared romance, but were also close collaborators in music, creating hits together including “The Way” and “My Favorite Part.” Following the horrific Manchester bombing at Grande’s Dangerous Woman concert in May 2017, Miller also joined the singer to perform at the One Love Manchester benefit dedicated to those who’re injured during the attack.
While she posted a photo of Miller last week after his passing, this is the first time Grande addressed his death in her own words. Read her heartfelt note below.
