Gucci's SS19 Campaign Pays Homage to Hollywood's Golden Age
Alessandro Michele strikes again.
Alessandro Michele presents yet another glorious, glistening campaign for Gucci‘s Spring/Summer 2019 collection. His fixation with the dominant celebrity culture rings loudly in the imagery which is directly derived from Hollywood’s golden age. The campaign which is shot and directed by Glen Luchford, leaning deeply into films like An American in Paris, Cover Girl and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes for inspiration.
The shots feature dramatic, technicolor theatrics which translates as flocks of talented performers. The singers and dancers don glamorous Gucci pieces and are surrounded by grand stages and staircases. In total, the campaign captures the sheer essence of Hollywood in the ’40s and ’50s. Accompanying the bright images are black and white portraits of models, driving home the fact that stars were also seen as role models years ago.
Dropping alongside the campaign are short clips showcasing candid moment starring the models.
