Reparto SS27 Is All About Embracing Bad Taste
With a collection titled “Niche and Chic.”
Good taste is overrated, at least according to Reparto. The Madrid-based label is back with “Niche and Chic,” its SS27 collection exploring the blurry line between elegance and excess, with a healthy dose of irony and countercultural attitude.
Following its FW26 catwalk show, “Backlot,” Reparto continues to play with clashing prints, textures and loud styling. Think leopard-print sequins, hot pink and black combinations, custom badges and taffeta, alongside the label’s signature asymmetric button-downs and statement tees emblazoned with slogans like “Fashion Victim” and “Everything Looks The Same.” Subtlety is definitely not on the agenda.
For SS27, the collection takes inspiration from Paris at the end of the 19th century, when Bohemian aesthetics were emerging alongside the popularization of “chic” as shorthand for sophistication and style. Rather than choosing a side, Reparto leans into the contradiction, bringing underground culture and polished elegance into one deliberately chaotic wardrobe.
Made in Madrid with Paris in mind, “Niche and Chic” is a pastiche of nostalgia, desire and adolescence, questioning who gets to decide what looks good in the first place. Tacky, decadent and knowingly over-the-top, the collection makes a convincing case for embracing fashion’s more questionable impulses.
