PUMA Brings the Cali Bold to the Streets of New York City
With a larger-than-life mural.
Inspired by bold, fearless women of today, digital content creator and visual artist Brittany Byrd has partnered with PUMA to create an expansive, brightly-hued mural on display in Brooklyn, New York. Never one to shy away from making a statement with her thought-provoking art, the four-paneled mural pays tribute to three PUMA Women ambassadors, including Maria Beltre, Veronica Bonilla and Brittany herself, who each offer their own unique perspective on what it means to be bold.
“I decided on each phrase that was incorporated into the mural, [using] real stories from each woman and turning their truth into a visual,” says Brittany on constructing the powerful phrases and messaging used throughout the mural. The street-art series, which draws design inspiration from California culture and PUMA’s Cali Bold, poses the question, “What makes you bold?” The aim is to spark a dialogue amongst women and allow them to share their personal stories across social media. “The inspiration behind the piece was to [communicate] that as women, especially in today’s social and political climate, we all have value and a voice that we can celebrate,” says Brittany.
Check out the mural in the photos above and head to South 1st Street and Kent Avenue in Williamsburg, Brooklyn between now and July 14 to share your own bold story and see the work in living color. The PUMA Cali Bold is available for purchase on the brand’s website for $80 USD.
