Super M Is the New K-Pop Group Everyone Is Talking About
Revealed by SM Entertainment and Capitol Music Group.
K-pop has become one of the most popular music genres over the past few months, and yesterday Capitol Music Group revealed a new group that declared themselves as “the Avengers of K-pop.” Introducing Super M, a group of seven boys supported by South Korean music powerhouse SM Entertainment, the new group will be making its debut in America in October.
The members of Super M are Taemin from K-pop group SHINee, Baekhyun and Kai of EXO, Taeyong and Mark of NCT, as well as Ten and Lucas from Chinese-pop band WayV. The group was revealed at the 2019 Capitol Congress event, where Katy Perry, Niall Horan and more also announced new music, with a visual teaser featuring the phrase “We Are The Future.”
“This is a total new formation of a group and artist, and also a totally new form for the business,” said Chris Lee, A&R executive at SM Entertainment, adding that, “We’re maintaining their groups, their solo careers, and on top of this we have this ‘Avengers’ group to pull them together. There’s already an Iron-Man, a Thor, etc; and just like how the Avengers can have their own successful movies, there is a different kind of energy when they are together as the Avengers. We are now creating that as a point of business. We want to create a synergy between their groups, them as solo acts, and the Super M group to create a big wave in this K-pop industry.”
