Here's How Twitter and Macaulay Culkin Are Reacting to Disney's 'Home Alone' Reboot
We’re screaming with you, Kevin.
Just when you thought the entertainment industry had enough reboots for the year, Disney has announced that it will be reviving Home Alone for its streaming service Disney+. According to NBC News, Disney CEO Bob Iger said during Disney’s Earnings Webcast: “We’re also focused on leveraging Fox’s vast library of great titles to further enrich the content mix on our [direct-to-consumer] platforms.” He has also revealed plans to reboot Fox‘s franchises like Night at the Museum, Diary of a Wimpy Kid and Cheaper by the Dozen for “a new generation.”
After news broke out that the 1990s classic would be getting a remake, fans and Macaulay Culkin took to Twitter and voiced out their opinions on the matter. The original Kevin McCallister tweeted a photo of himself showing off his belly wearing boxers, a laptop on his lap and eating takeout. “This is what an updated Home Alone would actually look like,” he wrote.

Fans are clearly not happy about the announcement. One tweeted: “How you gonna remake #HomeAlone when 2019 Kevin can just text his Mom or catch an Uber.” Other users have been able to point out that due to technological advances since the original came out, the plot would be difficult to match.

“Just when I thought I couldn’t take anymore this year, I learn that Disney wants to remake Home Alone,” another complained.

More fans added that parts three and four, which Culkin didn’t star in, didn’t do as well as the first part and Home Alone 2: Lost in New York.
“Disney wants to reboot #HomeAlone. Nobody wants this. Want proof? There are 4 sequels to Home Alone that nobody cares about. The first movie was perfect. No reboot or sequel will ever recapture the magic that was the original,” one tweeted.
Let us know what you think of this reboot and if you’d consider watching it. In other entertainment news, Disney will be offering a Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ bundle for $12.99 USD starting in November.
