Last night, the 2020 Fashion Awards took place, this time digitally as the world is still navigating the global pandemic. There’s no doubt that COVID-19 has impacted the fashion industry immensely, with fashion shows being cancelled, stores closing and production being halted, and has presented the industry’s many creatives with challenges we never expected to face.

This year the BFC‘s Fashion Awards celebrated designers, brands, creatives and individuals who have contributed positive change within the industry, ranging from names who stood up to prejudice and fought for change, to those who showed leadership and resilience over the year. Recognising a total of 20 talents divided into four categories; Environment, Community, People and Creativity; the honorees were all recognized for their innovative efforts and adaptive business models, as well as their work for the community.

Nominees included up-and-coming names like A Sai Tai, Priya Alhuwalia, Aurora James and Grace Wales Bonner, as well as recognizable names like Kim Jones, Riccardo Tisci, Edward Enninful and Jonathan Anderson. Initiatives like The Fashion Pact, the Emergency Designer Network and Lindsay Peoples Wagner and Sandrine Charles for Black in Fashion Council were also honored, capturing important support within the community as well as responsive initiatives created this year.
