Singer-songwriter Jewel, who was disguised as Queen of Hearts throughout the season, won the competition after a face-off with Bull, revealed to be Todrick Hall. The two artists were challenged to perform one acoustic song and one showstopper for their final competition, with Bull singing Des’ree’s “You Gotta Be” and Hunter Hayes’ “Invisible.” Queen of Hearts performed her own take on Marvin Gaye’s “What’s Going On” and Katy Perry’s “Firework.”
Following her win, Jewel dropped a special EP Queen of Hearts featuring her covers from the show, ranging from Edith Piaf’s “La Vie En Rose” to Lady Gaga’s “Born This Way.” “I don’t tend to show off my technical ability as a singer,” the artist said in an interview. “My heroes are like Sarah Vaughan, who inspired to sing and Edith Piaf and Patsy Cline. And so this show gave me a chance to focus on my vocals, on pushing myself technically as a singer.” Meanwhile, Todrick Hall spoke about his performance in the finale: “That moment in the finale was just really special to me. I’ve always loved that song ‘Invisible’ by Hunter Hayes. I’m a huge fan of him, mostly because I found that song at a time where I really needed it.” He added: “It’s just such a beautiful song and the lyricism and the melody of it is just so powerful. And I danced to that song in one of my tours, but I never have gotten to perform it. It just meant a lot to me.”
