HBO Max Announces 'Degrassi' Reboot
Comprised of 10 one-hour-long episodes.
HBO Max has announced that a reboot of the Degrassi series is in the works. To prepare fans for the revival, the streaming giant will add all 14 seasons of Degrassi: The Next Generation to its catalog this Spring.
According to Deadline, Degrassi “explores a group of teenagers and school faculty living in the shadow of events that both bind them together and tear them apart.” Set in Toronto, the upcoming show will feature “diverse, complicated characters” who are all trying to figure out how to navigate through life.
Showrunners Lara Azzopardi and Julia Cohen will deliver 10 one-hour-long episodes. Amy Friedman, the head of Kids & Family Programming at Warner Bros., said: “Series after series, the Degrassi franchise continues to make an indelible impact on young viewers looking for trustworthy and authentic storytelling.” She added: “WildBrain continues to artfully capture high school life in a compelling format that can be experienced seamlessly on HBO Max.”
Degrassi is set to premiere exclusively in the U.S. on HBO Max in 2023.
