Sacai's Pre-Fall 2022 Collection Is All About Self-Confidence

Expressed through oversized jackets with lingerie-inspired details.

With an anticipated Nike Cortez collaboration on the way, Chitose Abe has unveiled her Pre-Fall 2022 womenswear collection for sacai.

Showcased alongside the Fall/Winter 2022 menswear range, the lineup features designs created in collaboration with MADSAKI, a New York and Tokyo-based artist known for his spray paint work. Outerwear, sweaters and more are emblazoned with the creative’s text that read “Sheeple Zombies and Kool-Aid.”

Speaking to Vogue, Abe stressed that the Pre-Fall 2022 collection focuses on “self-assurance and self-confidence.” She said: “If I have that self-assurance and self-confidence, the wearer will also.” This energy is seen through lingerie-inspired elements on select outerwear, including jackets with bra cups and bra lines across the front and back. Similar themes are found on tailored suits. Elsewhere, the designer plays around with silhouettes on moto jackets crafted in partnership with Schott, while additional details include puffy sleeves, bold shearling trimmings and more.
