Vans and Japanese retailer BILLY’s TOKYO have teamed up for a special Chinese New Year collaboration.

Celebrating the Year of the Rabbit, the Vault by Vans footwear collection presents an assortment of shoes that do not skimp on color. The offering is comprised of three Vans Slip-Ons, appearing in a festive color palette of red, green and black. The core collection features a bold checkered pattern, a familiar print for fans of the California-born and bred brand. Hidden within the dizzying design are yin and yang symbols composed of white and black rabbits, paying homage to the animal of the year. Each pair includes a bright red inner lining, contrasting an all-white rubber sole.

The collection’s standout is the DIY HI VLT LX, a silhouette that celebrates a “DESIGN IT YOURSELF” approach. Taking inspiration from the Vans Sk8-Hi and Half Cab shapes, the truly inventive shoe arrives with a melange of multi-colored and textured Velcro-backed attachments. and is utilized with various Velcro-backed attachments included to decorate it.

The three Vault by Vans Slip-On colorways and the DIY HI VLT LX are scheduled to launch via BILLY’s on New Year’s Day, January 1. Prices start at ¥12,100 JPY (approx. $90 USD) for the Slip-On pairs and go up to ¥26,400 (approx. $196 USD) for the DIY HI VLT LX.
