Mark Zuckerberg Confirms NFTs Are Coming to Instagram
He suggested that users will be able to show off their NFTs on the social media app.
As confirmed by Mark Zuckerberg, NFTs will soon be coming to Instagram.
The app isn’t the first social media company to implement NFTs on its platform. Earlier this year, Twitter introduced an update that allows NFT owners to change their profile pictures to their digital art.
Although Zuckerberg didn’t elaborate on how exactly this would take form on the app, he shared that users would be able to show off their NFTs and potentially mint new ones. “We’re working on bringing NFTs to Instagram in the near term. I’m not ready to kind of announce exactly what that’s going to be today. But over the next several months, the ability to bring some of your NFTs in, hopefully over time be able to mint things within that environment.”
In addition to NFTs, the tech entrepreneur spoke about the metaverse as well, according to Engadget. “I would hope that you know, the clothing that your avatar is wearing in the metaverse, you know, can be basically minted as an NFT and you can take it between your different places. There’s like a bunch of technical things that need to get worked out before that’ll really be seamless to happen.”
