Whistles Taps Rising Accessories Brand Hai for SS22 Capsule
Comprised of silk scrunchies, handbags and slip dresses.
For those unfamiliar with the brand, Hai, launched in 2018, creates handbags and other accessories out of silk. Named after “hai (海),” which is sea in Mandarin, the brand takes inspiration from the movement and strength of the ocean.
For this particular team-up, Hai has created 13 styles in partnership with Whistles. The collection is comprised of handbags and scrunchies, as well as slip dresses in shades such as lime green and hot pink. The purses include updated iterations of Hai’s popular Vera Bag, a checkerboard design, and the Puff Gina Bag, a bucket style with drawstring closure.
“We really wanted to create a capsule of silk staples in opulent, bold and bright tones. These are clothes for day and night, but there’s a celebratory, party feeling to them too,” Hai’s founder and creative director Tessa Vermeulen said in a press release. Whistles’ head of design Gemma Hyde added: “We have been huge fans of [Hai] since they launched their signature silk bags. At Whistles, we are always looking for emerging brands whose ethos aligns with ours, and Hai feels like a perfect pairing for us — lending their attention to timeless styles rather than chasing trends.”
Ranging from £22 to £198 GBP (approximately $27 to $242 USD), the Hai x Whistles collection will release at Whistles’ stores and online on May 19.
