How To Achieve the Coveted "Wet Hair" Look for the Summer

An old cultural favorite that is still trending today.

65.2K

Summer has now arrived, and with hotter temperatures comes hotter hairstyle trends. It was only a matter of time until the “wet look” hair look returned. This soaking wet style has always been a splash on runways and with celebrities during the seasonal awards in warmer months.

Hair goddesses such as Zendaya and Ciara are both masters of this particular look, and while it may look so easy, professionals know it isn’t as simple as hopping out of the shower, towel-drying your hair and going about the day — there is a method to the madness. Contingent on your hair type, you’ll need a blend of hair oil or serum, gel, styling cream, sculpting mousse or your favorite leave-in conditioner. Those with thicker or drier hair will want to veer towards a heavier combination of serum and cream first, then top it with a combo of gel and hair oil. For hair that is finer, opt for a cocktail of conditioner, mousse and a lightweight gel.

No matter how you want to go about styling, a good hair spray will be the key to your look. For more inspiration, we’ve rounded up a few “wet look” hair ideas for you to try. If the style turns out successfully for you, be sure to tag Hypebae’s Beauty Instagram for a chance to be featured.
