Billie Is on a Mission to End Rules Around Body Hair With Its New Campaign
“Rules of Body Hair” is reworking social ideas behind body hair acceptance.
Billie is on a mission to change the perception of body hair once and for all. The brand unveiled a new campaign, “Rules of Body Hair,” which is a fresh perspective on relieving women of their societal pressures.
As a follow up from Billie’s first initiative to normalize body hair, the brand produced a short film focused on revealing just how contradictory and antiquated society “rules” can be. In a 50-second clip directed by Femke Huurderman, a confused young girl is shown trying to come to terms with all of the dos and don’ts of dealing with hair. It also dives into the double standards between men and women and body hair trends.
Billie co-founder Georgina Gooley didn’t stop there, she took the education a bit further by creating a book aimed at children to coincide with the initiative. The goal is to enrich adults with the tools they need to begin a healthy and positive dialogue around body hair. The book also includes tips on how to appreciate your body hair journey and how to be respectful of other people.
