The New Uniqlo U FW22 Collection Is All About the Essentials

Giving the capsule wardrobe a whole new meaning.

UNIQLO just unveiled its Uniqlo U Fall/Winter 2022 offering, designed by the brand’s artistic director Christophe Lemaire. Inspired by the theme “Essentials with a point of view,” the collection utilizes Lemaire’s design skills to create a range of minimalist yet considered pieces.

Initially, the brand’s Uniqlo U collection stemmed from the concept of a capsule wardrobe that could fit into a single suitcase, one that aims to be adaptable enough to take its wearer through an entire season. With a combination of pieces that center around functionality and versatility, the 2022 offering boasts a neutral color palette merged with transitional layers, basics and knits.

Standout pieces from the FW22 collection include genderless essentials like the Practical Pocketable Long Coat and the Utility Short Blouson Jacket, available in varying sizes. Key silhouettes are boxy and oversized, allowing the pieces to suit multiple different body types and allow for layering across the seasons.

The women’s collection offers a specific focus on comfort and versatility, combining soft wool knits with menswear-style shirts and high-waisted jeans, while the menswear offering is designed specifically for city life and outdoor pursuits.

The new Uniqlo U FW22 will be available for purchase from the brand’s website on September 22.
