Joshua Vides Boldly Animates Colmar’s Ski Essentials in New Collaboration

Glide back to the ‘80s in the accompanying retro-styled campaign.

As Colmar marks a century of crafting sportswear and alpine uniforms, the brand unveils a new capsule collection with visual artist Joshua Vides. Channeling his monochrome, cartoonist forms onto its signature garments, the collaboration retraces decades of evolving Colmar style with archival motifs and colorways punctuating the line.

Keeping the offering focused on an essential ski wardrobe, the brand presents a total of 10 pieces reimagined by Vides – including coats, knit sweaters, tops and accessories. For staple puffer jackets, the artist’s “Pen to Paper” discipline is particularly eminent with chunky black strokes outlining the stitched seams on one iteration, and a doodle-style depiction of Colmar’s 1923 dove logo printed on the back of another. A padded vest arrives in a similar style but instead, inverts the colors on the lining for reversible wearability.

Posing as the standout piece in the range is the jacquard and wool-blend knit sweater. Designed to mimic the legendary ‘70s jacket worn by Erwin Stricker in the Blue Avalanche competition, the intricate weave features a sketched athlete bib framed with racing stripes across the shoulders and arms. The range is complete with a matching tracksuit featuring roughly coloured red and blue panels as well as a T-shirt with gold medal illustrations and a selection of hats, scarves and gloves.

Colmar reveals the striking garments in a new campaign video titled, “The Race is On” which spotlights the vibrant alpine aesthetic of the ‘80s. Pulling references from its iconic print magazine In Caso Di Neve, the visuals feature flamboyant typography, flashy graphics and styling that emphasizes Vides’ bold designs.

Take a closer look at the campaign video in the gallery above. You can also shop Joshua Vides x Colmar capsule collection on HBX, via the brand’s website and at select boutiques worldwide.
