We tapped our friends at Studs Studio to give their expert insight.

The weather is cooler, so updating your look is an absolute must for the beauty enthusiast. While you’re shopping around and getting your fashions and glam in order, why not finally get the piercing you’ve been itching to get for the last three years?

To get the ear-spiration flowing, the Hypebae Beauty team tapped our friend Jenn Lee, Senior Manager, Content & Community at Studs and their team of expert piercers for the coolest ear piercing placements and trends heading into the holidays and 2024. Beloved by celebrity fans Emma Chamberlain, Rosalía and more, Studs has ear piercing studios nationwide — from NYC to LA.

Every Studs location has incredibly knowledgeable and skilled piercing experts who use needles (never guns!) and provide highly consultative and personalized Earscaping® sessions with a wide assortment of cute & quality piercing jewelry.

Keep reading on for the top piercing trends of 2024.

Contra Conch

What is it? This piercing is also known as the outer conch, and the placement sits at the ridge of cartilage that sits outside the inner conch.

Why we love it: “This piercing location has become one of the most popular piercings done by our Studs piercers,” Lee says. “This unique placement acts like the centerpiece of any Earscape® because it draws attention right to the center of your ear.”

Studs Snakebite®

What is it? This Studs signature piercing is two piercings placed close together for a look with a little edge that draws attention to your Earscape®.

Why we love it: “You can really customize your Earscape® with the signature Studs Snakebite® piercing. It’s most commonly placed along the midi-helix, but can be pierced in various other placements (like the forward helix and flat helix) as long as your ear anatomy allows,” Lee notes. “Once they’re fully healed, you can mix and match hoops, huggies, studs, and chains for a stack that’s uniquely you.”

Flat Helix

What is it? A piercing that is placed in the flat region of cartilage in the upper ear.

Why we love it: “This piercing is great for balancing any Earscape® and instantly elevates your look, no matter what piercing jewelry style you choose.” Lee shares.

Stacked Lobe

What is it? Two lobe piercings stacked either directly on top of each other or diagonally, creating an elevated look to your lobes.

Why we love it: “Similar to the Studs Snakebite®, this piercing is great for designing your own, uniquely curated Earscape®. Depending on your ear anatomy, you can stack two piercings directly on top of each other or in between two piercings to form a triangle,” Lee responds. “This is also a great option for anyone who wants to advance their Earscape® but not ready to commit to a new cartilage piercing. Studs offers dozens of piercing stud options to mix and match your stack.”

Conch

What is it? A piercing that sits in the inner part (the ‘concha’) of your ear.

Why we love it: “This has been a fan-favorite piercing for a long time and we don’t see this trend dying down any time soon,” Lee says. “Since the placement of this piercing is tucked away along the inner conch, people generally find this piercing easier to heal as it’s less prone to getting snagged externally. This piercing is also extra fun to style once it’s fully healed with different studs, hoops, and even chains”
