FACEIT and Gucci Celebrate Women in Gaming With "GG Legends"
Highlighting WNBA player Aerial Powers.
Esports company FACEIT and Gucci are teaming up yet again to reveal the third episode of docuseries, GG Legends.
Starring Minnesota Lynx basketball star, Aerial Powers, the series seeks to amplify underrepresented communities in gaming, particularly women and people of color. Powers struggled to find her footing both on and off the court as the athlete reminisced on needing her father’s support and encouragement to feel confident and comfortable using her voice. Time spent playing against boys undoubtedly prepared her for the male-dominated world of gaming as she eventually created her own space, launching an all-female NBA2K tournament during the pandemic. “Creating opportunities like that for more women and people of color in the gaming space is where I saw my future heading,” the well-rounded gamer shares in the episode.
As a co-owner of Team Liquid, the organization won its very first championship with Team Valorant — an all-female group. “When hard work, reliance and consistency are met with opportunity, great things can happen — and I’m a result of that.”
