Nike Drops Kobe Bryant's Air Flight Huarache "Lakers Away"
Hitting shelves on August 10.
The late basketball legend Kobe Bryant as a checkered history with footwear.
While the athlete began his sneaker career with adidas, he paid millions to leave the brand and remained unsigned until 2003. Before Bryant eventually signed with Nike, he welcomed a steady rotation of brands and silhouettes.
The Air Flight Huarache was among these, naturally arriving in a Los Angeles Lakers-themed color palette. After its appearance twenty years ago, the design will be available to the public for the first time. “Varsity Purple” and a bright “Del Sol” color the shoe, using a strong black as its backdrop. The sneaker is comprised of a mixture of materials as neoprene, canvas and nubuck cover the upper. The golden hue decorates branding on the tongue, showing up on the forefoot and medial as well. Meanwhile, purple makes its presence known on the heel. Both shades come together, bursting through the black sole unit.
