Prada Is the Official Partner of the Chinese Women's National Football Team

Just in time for the World Cup.

Prada has officially been announced as the official partner for the China Women’s National Football team, right on time for the athletes’ touch down to Australia in anticipation of the FIFA Women’s World Cup later this month.

Famously known as the “Steel Roses,” all 23 players will be dressed by the inimitable luxury brand, wearing its designs for formal occasions and travel. The official uniform seamlessly captures the gentle strength of the team, as it is comprised of a black blazer and matching trousers, alongside a button-down and Prada loafers, creating “a fresh and contemporary off-the-field image.”

“The China Women’s Football Team has forged a global reputation and is a source of inspiration for young female athletes, focusing public and institutional attention on a democratic and inclusive sport,” Prada shared in a statement.

Last year, the esteemed players won the Asian Cup last year and will compete in the World Cup, which kicks off on July 22, starting off with a match against Denmark. Prada will continue its partnership with the team after the World Cup, lending sartorial assistance through the Asian Games 2023, the Paris 2024 Olympics and “various important summer fixtures.”

This isn’t the first time Prada has ventured into the world of sports as the Italian house has tapped Chinese basketball player Shuyu Yuang and Olympic table tennis player Ma Long as brand ambassador last year. Prada has also recruited four Olympic athletes — shotput athlete Gong Lijiao, marathoner Li Zhixuan, water polo player Xiong Dunhan and Yang Shuyu — for a Douyin campaign in 2022.
