Britney Spears and Sam Asghari Reportedly File for Divorce

Multiple outlets suggest that Asghari wants more money out of the prenup.

Britney Spears and her husband, Sam Asghari, have reportedly called it quits after just over a year of marriage. Multiple outlets have been sharing news of the couple’s divorce, though neither party has officially confirmed it as yet.

“They’re separated and it’s best for Britney,” a source told NBC News. A second source also confirmed that Asghari has moved out of the couple’s shared home and into his own place. The couple tied the knot back in June 2022 at Spears’ home in Los Angeles, years after they met on set at the “Slumber Party” music video in 2016.

Spears and Asghari got engaged in September 2021, just as her conservatorship seemed to be ending, leading fans to speculate whether or not entering into a marriage was the right move. Throughout their marriage, fans have been sceptical about Asghari’s intentions and at one point, believed that he too was controlling the popstar.

Earlier this year, the couple was subject to rumors about their marriage ending, after TMZ aired TMZ Investigates: Britney Spears: The Price of Freedom. The documentary special claimed that the couple’s marriage was in “deep trouble,” which Asghari later declined.

Now, it appears that the divorce proceedings are getting complicated, as multiple outlets have reported that Asghari isn’t satisfied with the financial gain from the prenup and wants more money.

Stay tuned as the story develops.
