YouTube Launches TikTok-Like Vertical Video Feed for Music Discovery

Dubbed “Samples.”

YouTube is taking a page from TikTok’s success by introducing its own vertical video feed, dubbed “Samples.” This fresh addition is now available within the YouTube Music app, presenting a dedicated tab where users can swipe to explore and uncover new tracks sourced directly from the expansive YouTube Music library.

“Samples” is geared towards offering a streamlined music discovery experience. T. Jay Fowler, Director of Product Management at YouTube Music, describes it as a “seamless feed of short-form video segments to get you to your new favorite music.”

Although intricate insights into the underlying algorithm for “Samples” remain undisclosed, YouTube is anticipated to leverage its AI-powered system to curate music based on users’ favored genres and preferences.

Users are empowered not only to share songs with friends but also to incorporate them into their personalized content collections. Furthermore, the feature extends the option to view the entire video or navigate to the album from which the song emanates.

In case you missed it, you can now add music for photo carousels and more on Instagram.
