J Balvin's Upcoming Air Jordan 3 "Rio" Is Straight Fire

Named after the artist’s son, who was born in 2021.

An early look at J Balvin‘s forthcoming Air Jordan 3 collaboration has been spotted on the streets of New York City, as the music artist was papped playing basketball with Jimmy Butler — a pretty newsworthy event in itself.

The images showcased Balvin’s fourth Jordan Brand collaboration, debuting a never-before-seen colorway dubbed “Rio,” in honor of the artist’s son, who was born in June 2021. The new colorway follows Balvin’s first partnership with the brand, which resulted in the Air Jordan 1 “Colores Y Vibras,” followed by the Air Jordan 2 and Air Jordan 3 in “Medellín Sunset.”

The new iteration boasts a sleek black upper, complete with striking accents of “Solar Flare” and “Total Crimson Abyss.” Elsewhere, grey elephant print overlays appear across the toe and heels, with a multi-color gradient midsole rounding out the design. Finally, translucent heel tabs come complete with J Balvin’s signature logo.

Take an early look at the J Balvin x Air Jordan 3 “Rio” colorway above, expected to land in Summer 2024 at Nike for $250 USD.

In other footwear news, Nike’s VaporMax 2023 Flyknit lands in “Pink Blast.”
