Miley Cyrus Reveals the Exact Moment She Chose to Divorce Liam Hemsworth

“Flowers” singer Miley Cyrus shares the story of her decision to divorce ex-husband Liam Hemsworth.
According to the artist, “the decision had been made” at Glastonbury Festival in June of 2019. The performance went down in history as one of her raunchiest, but little did fans know, there was a major decision looming backstage.

“Me and Liam’s commitment to being married, of course, came from a place of love first,” she spoke of the 10-year relationship. ”But also from a place of trauma and just trying to rebuild as quickly as we could.” The celebrity couple had endured hardship after hardship, one of which was their home being destroyed by fire in 2018.
The day of her Glastonbury Festival show was the nail in the coffin, with her finalizing her decision. “It was no longer going to work in my life to be in that relationship.”
“That was another moment where the work, the performance, the character, came first,” she said. “That’s why its so important to me [now]… that the human comes first.”
At the time, Cyrus endured intense infidelity rumors, stemming from slut shaming, resulting in her releasing a statement:
“But the truth is, once Liam & I reconciled, I meant it, & I was committed. There are NO secrets to uncover here. I’ve learned from every experience in my life. I’m not perfect, I don’t want to be, it’s boring. I’ve grown up in front of you, but the bottom line is, I HAVE GROWN UP. I can admit to a lot of things but I refuse to admit that my marriage ended because of cheating. Liam and I have been together for a decade. I’ve said it before & it remains true, I love Liam and always will.”
After much time off, she released “Flowers” recounting her healing journey and shortly thereafter, the highly successful “Endless Summer Vacation.”
