This New Photo Book Captures 4 Years of Iconic Prada Campaigns

Celebrating the work of German photographer Norbert Schoerner.

British publisher IDEA just released a new book which commemorates the work of Norbert Schoerner, showcasing his biggest Prada campaigns. The book spans four years of Schoerner’s career from 1998 to 2002 and aims to capture his biggest and best campaigns for the iconic luxury brand.

The 178-page book, titled Norbert Schoerner PRADA ARCHIVE 1998–2002, was art-directed by Jonny Lu Studio and arrives bound in a hole-punch style. The book features no text aside from its title, which appears subtly placed over Schoerner’s portrait of Angela Lindvall.

“Working with Prada takes a long time. It was very fragmented. Work in progress. We weren’t working from a script,” Schoerner said. “We were re-writing the script all the time. Formulating the concept every day. The work proceeds with failures and reacts to changes. It’s very much an empirical process. And that’s the luxury of these campaigns. Other brands didn’t give you the time to do that.”

In 1998, the photographer signed an exclusive two-year contract with Prada, one which sees the duo still collaborating to this day. His distinctive style saw Prada in realistic, everyday environments which aimed to shift focus towards the form and function of the garments in question.

The first edition of Norbert Schoerner PRADA ARCHIVE 1998–2002, which featured a run of 750 copies, is already sold out, but IDEA is set to continue distributing the book to select retailers. Take a glimpse at what’s inside above and sign up for more release info.
