Angel Reese Made History at Victoria’s Secret

As the first pro athlete to get her wings and hit the runway.

WNBA star Angel Reese just officially earned her wings. Swapping her tunnel walk for the runway, Reese made history as one of the first pro athletes to walk the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show.

Joined by a cast of top supermodels, cultural icons and an all-female musical lineup, the night was a huge celebration of women, glitz and glam. Headline performances included Madison Beer, Missy Elliott, KAROL G and K-Pop group TWICE, while other angels included model favorites Alex Consani, Adut Akech, Amelia Gray, Bella Hadid and Paloma Elsesser, alongside many more. There was also a hot celeb line-up of guests with Chloe Sevigny, Dylan Sprouse and Sarah Jessica Parker hitting the pink carpet.

The decision to have Reese on the catwalk was a major move from the brand and felt like a celebration of strength in women. The athlete swapped her signature sneakers for silver René Caovilla heels and strutted down the runway in two pink looks, one of which was a three-piece floral ensemble with a fluffy boa. Later, she donned a pink cut-out baby tee with a lacy bra peaking out from underneath that matched the undies. On her back, of course, were the dramatic, lacy white wings. Angel Reese is really living up to her name.

Wings, star-studded performances and a whole lot of lingerie, the night was the ultimate celebration of today’s VS. The brand made its catwalk return last year after taking a six-year hiatus, reassessing its positioning in today’s landscape. While some said it made a wobbly re-entrance, this year it was clear that the VS we once knew and loved is back, but with a more inclusive upgrade.
