Chappell Roan Is MAC's Newest Global Ambassador
“Welcome to the MAC family, Chappell, you really are the favorite artist’s favorite artist.” — Nicola Formichetti
MAC Cosmetics has just announced Grammy-winning artist Chappell Roan as its newest brand ambassador. After the star sported the brand’s products for multiple appearances including the Grammys and the VMAs, the long-term partnership is a culmination of the duo’s shared passion for bold artistry and self-expression.
“Partnering with MAC feels full circle. This brand has always made space for people like me; since day one they’ve embraced art, queerness, drag and self-expression,” Roan says in a press release. For Nicola Formichetti, MAC’s newly-appointed creative director, Roan’s commitment to LGBTQIA+ voices is what makes her the ideal MAC ambassador. “Chappell represents a generation that values authenticity, queer joy and fearless self-expression, which aligns perfectly with MAC and our mission of all ages, all races, all genders,” Formichetti says.
For Roan’s first-ever MAC campaign, she wears film noir-inspired makeup executed by Andrew Dahling. Referencing 1930s military aesthetics and the singer’s signature dramatic glam, Dahling calls the look “a modern take on androgyny that feels powerful, graphic and unmistakably her.” In addition to the star’s trademark white base, the makeup artist completed the campaign look with pencil thin brows, cool-toned eyeshadow and chunky glitter lashes.
