Issey Miyake and ASICS Are Dropping a Sneaker

Introducing a new project, “Issey Miyake Foot.”

Japanese design and performance-driven innovation are stepping into the future. Miyake Design Studio (MDS) just partnered with ASICS to launch “Issey Miyake Foot,” a joint footwear project set to debut in 2026.

True to the Issey Miyake legacy, the collaboration places technology, experimentation and aesthetics at its core. The brand has long explored the intersection of fashion and innovation, most recently teaming up with Apple on a phone pouch, and this latest venture continues that forward-thinking approach. Working alongside ASICS, “Issey Miyake Foot” turns its attention to the human foot itself, reimagining shoes as a tool that can subtly enhance everyday life.

The first release sees the HYPER TAPING, a fresh evolution of the ASICS Stripes. Originally designed to balance visual identity with structural support and fit, the stripes served as the starting point for MDS’s “taping” concept, a design focused on stabilizing the body through form. With HYPER TAPING, that idea is transformed into a bold new expression to decorate your feet.

Featuring a wrestling-inspired outsole and a redesigned insole tailored for everyday wear, the sneaker merges technical function with refined aesthetics. Thoughtful construction combined with playful colorways gives the silhouette a sleek, retro edge that feels unmistakably cool.

Equal parts sporty and chic, “Issey Miyake Foot” is shaping up to be a defining step forward and an easy walk into the new year. The shoe will launch globally in January 2026. Head to the Issey Miyake and ASICS websites for more.
