Peso Pluma Wants to "Smell Good All the Time"

We spoke to the Mexican superstar about self-care, his new music and YSL Beauty’s “MYSLF” fragrance.

Peso Pluma can do it all — from captivating the hearts of his native Mexico to making waves on the global stage, the singer-songwriter is not just redefining the sound of music in his native country but also making his mark in the world of beauty. As he continues to connect cultures with his unique sound, Pluma’s partnership with YSL Beauty reflects his commitment to authenticity and self-expression, proving that his influence extends beyond singing into fragrance.

We spoke to Pluma about experimenting with his look, the legacy he hopes to leave behind and being the U.S. voice of YSL Beauty’s “MYSLF” Le Parfum.

On the growing international recognition of Mexican music

Being the driving force for my country’s music brings me immense pride. I want to keep showing the world that Mexican music is here to stay, that we are talented, creative and that our sounds are global. We have so much more to show and this is only the beginning.

On working with YSL Beauty

Working with YSL Beauty has been an amazing experience — I wanted to partner with the brand because they encourage everyone to feel authentic and that’s exactly what I try to do with my music and in my career.

On his relationship with fragrance

I am obsessed with perfumes and want to smell good all the time. Perfume is one of my bag essentials, and I always carry it with me. “MYSLF” Le Parfum includes bits of florals, which is different from my usual go-to, which is why it caught my attention.

On self-care

It is super important to take care of yourself… mind, body and spirit. I try to workout and eat well, I enjoy going to the sauna and remembering to take down time is very important for maintaining life on the road.

On experimenting with his look

I am always going to keep evolve as a person and artist and who knows, I’m sure my looks will continue to change, too. I enjoy expressing myself and trying new things.

On advice he would give to his younger self

Do not give up. Just keep your foot on the pedal and keep pushing forward.

On what’s next for him

I am working on so much music. This year, I’m going to drop a lot of new stuff and I’m working on a special EP with my cousin Tito Double P.

On the legacy he hopes to leave behind

I hope I inspire people to believe anything is possible, that if you work hard and believe in yourself, you can achieve big things. And that Mexico has talent, too.
