'Sinners' Returns to IMAX Theaters
In just nine theaters, worldwide.
Since its April 17 release, Ryan Coogler’s Sinners movie has dominated headlines and social media. The film has not only helped people fight their vampire fears, but it’s also encouraging movie-goers to enjoy the film as it should be enjoyed: on IMAX 70mm film. During the film’s press run, Coogler himself marketed its importance by giving film mini-lessons on Instagram — and it’s paying off.
In its first weekend, Sinners made $48 Million USD; weeks later, it’s still selling out. As the filmmaker’s first original film, the cultural and financial impact is impressive, with actors such as Tom Cruise and Pedro Pascal publicly giving the film its flowers.
As scheduled, Sinners left IMAX to make room for the Thunderbolts* movie. However, fans who had yet to view the sold-out vampire film were not happy. Thankfully, IMAX is re-releasing the movie for cinephiles. ”Audiences have spoken and we listened,” Jeff Goldstein, President of Global Distribution at Warner Bros. Pictures, said. “If ever a film needed to be experienced in this incredible, larger-than-life format, it’s Sinners.”
