Charli XCX Set To Produce and Act in Upcoming Horror Movie

Looks like ‘Brat’ summer is officially over.

Following the success of Brat, Charli XCX said it might be a HAIM Summer. Little did fans know, the “360” singer had several secrets up her sleeve.

Early 2025, news broke that Charli XCX and A24 were joining forces to create a film based on the singer’s original idea. The film would be brought to life via her production company, Studio365. According to a new report by Variety, the U.K. musician just added another movie to her lineup.

The upcoming film is a horror movie by Japanese director, Takashi Miike. Most known for his gory, gut-wrenching approach to violence, there aren’t many public details aside from a major win for the singer: she’ll be acting and producing the film.

This summer, Charli XCX will star in the comedy, OVERCOMPENSATING. Premiering on Amazon Prime, the film takes viewers back to the Y2K era of chaotic, teen movies. In the trailer, the UK singer stars as herself and hilariously pokes fun at her hit, “Boom Clap.” “You think I want to play f-cking ‘Boom Clap’ in a f-cking college?” she screamed. “Are you joking!?”

Musician and model Gabbriette also secured her first horror role this year. Announced via Instagram, the star shared that she joined the cast of the I Know What You Did Last Summer reboot. She’ll star alongside key members of the original film and new favorites such as Jennifer Love Hewitt, Sarah Michelle Geller and Madelyn Cline.
